Spring Love...

I have a new release for you, inspired by flowers blooming, new spring grass, and new love. How can you tell I can't wait for spring! Keep your eyes peeled because I have a few new releases coming your way over the next week. Here is today's:

Last weekend, I kinda broke. Well, it seems that I have some disk damage in my neck and upper back which is wreaking havoc on me poor old body. To make matters worse it appears I have fibromyalgia. Nice. I really have to limit myself from too much of any one activity. Last weekend I had to hold my head when I bent over so that I didn't scream out in pain. I was pathetic. A bottle of flexeril, some physio and massage therapy and I am back to my regular ole tolerable self.

Acetate Tent Card

Hello Fairy fans. Corry here for my first EVA " FAIRY TUTORIAL "!

How exciting!

Now, many of you may have already seen this tent card at the Fairy Fun Friday challenge blog last week as a mid-week reminder. I know your thinking "tent card, yay, how original 'rolling eyes'..." but what makes my tent card so special is that it does not have an image suspended, rather it has acetate behind it!

Interesting, I know!

So let's get started shall we.

This is what you will need.

-The blue circles are my Creative Memories shapes and the red, blue & green little creatures there are my cutters for those shapes.

If you have circle nesties, even better!

-tape

-scissors

-cutting mat

-acetate

-image

-paper cutter

-2 designer paper (1 for front, 1 for inside of card)

-plain cardstock for base (12"x12")

-another piece of paper (plain or DP)

-glue

-Oooooooo scoring tool

First step: A) Cut a piece of the colored cardstock for base (my blue 12"x12") to measure 5.5" width x 12" length- then fold in half to get a card base of 5.5" x 6"

B) Use the leftover cardstock to make the base for the tent card- see measurements as below.

Second step: Then score accordingly

Third step- fan fold (pic below)

Fourth step- cut your DP to fit the front of your card.

Fifth step- by whatever means you have, cut a circle in the front of the card, thru both the DP and cardbase. Like the pic. below.

While your at it, you may as well cut the second piece of DP you have chosen for the back drop of your tentcard. This DP will be seen thru the acetate window. (measurements again are 5.5" x 6" )

This picture is purely to show you how my CM cutters work.

The little nubs fit into my cutter shapes and as I push it along in the shape, the blade cuts thru the paper.

3 different size blades to get many different circle sizes.

Sixth step- cut the acetate circle a bit bigger than you cut the circle in the front of the card. (the yellow cardstock is just here to show you the acetate. It shows up good against yellow)

Seventh step- adhere the acetate to the front of the card, between the DP (previously attached) and the cardbase (blue). Luckily hubby got me some tape for Christmas that does not stick VERY well, so I was able to lift the DP & add some glue to the edges of the acetate and cardstock base (blue)

Eighth step- this is where I forgot to tell you to have another piece of paper handy; to make your frame around the front of the card. I wish I had measurements for you, but really it's trial and error.

Sorry man!

Ninth step- add double sided tape to the outsides of the inital base you made in the beginning and tape it to the tent card base like so (see below)

Tenth step- you complete your card & voila! DONE!

This card went to my son's preschool teachers. Yup all of them! One card to share!

Say hi to Flyin Gillian. I adhered her to the acetate with dble sided tape. I cut some clouds out of some misc paper and adhered them to the front, alongside a Magnolia heart and tag stamp......I COMPLETELY forgot I had bought this Magnolia extra at a bargain basement price, a LONG TIME ago!! OMG!

Pyramage Decoupage Tutorial

Hello! Fairy Princess Kelly here and do I have a fantastic tutorial for you this week!

I saw some really cool cards out there called pyramage decoupage which stands for pyramid decoupage. Still lost, decoupage is the art or technique of decorating something with cut-outs of paper, linoleum, plastic, or other flat material over which varnish or lacquer is applied. Basically layering the image to create depth. When I went to explore it further I discovered there are sites out there where you can order the images pre-colored and set just for cutting out and layering. Well I never like to do anything simple, so I thought it would be neat to create with this style but not be limited to the company colors and/or shapes, so I put a twist to it using the Prairie Fairy Designs image So Sweet. Follow the tutorial to see how easily you can do this with whichever image and shapes you choose.

1. Color two images the exact same way. I chose colors that would match my background paper.

2. Cut them out after coloring is complete.

3. Adhere them to patterned paper, I used two sheets as the pattern wasn't repetitious and I wanted them to match exactly.

4. I chose Nestabilities scallop ovals as my cut outs. I layered them on one of the images to see how I wanted my layout to be. You will see that two of the die cuts are face down and two are face up. I cut the inner circle and the third circle at the same time. The placement of the other two dies allowed me to see the spacing needed. I removed them before running the image through my Big Shot. Hint: When doing this I did it on my Big Shot cutting mats so they wouldn't shift by moving the paper to the machine.

5. Here are the results of cutting out the inner circle and the third circle at the same time.

6. Next you will take your second image on your cutting mat. I layed the inner circle that was cut out on top of the image so I would be able to line up the scallops for the 2nd and 4th circle die cuts to be placed correctly. On the second picture, I took a close up and pointed it out with the pink arrow for you to see what I mean.

7. I have lined up all of the cut out pieces for you to see the pieces I am working with.

8. I attached pop dots on the inner circle of the largest circle. I only have about 1/2 of the pop dot on the paper as I didn't want it showing on the next layer. Line up the next largest circle with the image and adhere to the pop dots.

9. Attached second layer.

10. Repeat step 8 on the inner part of the third largest circle, you will need less pop dots on each layer.

11. Line up and attach second layer.

12. For the top layer I attached the pop dots to the back of the top layer as I didn't have an inner cut out to use as a gauge.

13. Line up and attach top layer.

Here is the view from the side.

14. Finish as you desire and add to your card front.

Sketch Saturday and some exciting news!!!

Well, I just have so much to share today. I have been busy working away over at the DT blog, cleaning shop so to speak. I have decided to toss it up a little bit. We have decided to add a brand new branch to the team. A few of the existing teamies have decided to move over to our brand new
TUTORIAL DESIGN TEAM!
That's right, we are going to have weekly tutorials here at the stamp blog, every Wednesday to be exact. I am however kicking off the announcement with the very first video tutorial today with one that I have prepared for you myself! Whahooooo. Hope you like it. My tutorial focuses on how to embellish designer papers you may have in your stash right now to make them into creative and custom works of art with a bit of acrylic paint and some craft foam. Gotta love craft foam.

I was cleaning and organizing my studio, as always. I think that reorganizing sort of centers me, so I can create new things. Anyways, I found a stamp set from CTMH that I had a duplicate of. A GORGEOUS 8.5 x 11 inch sheet of stamps that are to die for! Could be used in so many ways. So, I am offering them up as Valentines Candy! Yummmmmm. The kind that don't make you fat!

I don't normally rant about stuff like this on here but this is IMPORTANT!!!!!

Would you believe this:

This HORROR film is........ did you catch that......is RATED G! Yep. General, suitable for viewing by all ages.

Guess what else! It is on Netflix right now! (Update, they have since changed the rating to not rated despite the fact that many other companies have rated it R). Yep. Your child whom you think is safe because you put all those parental controls onto your TV's and devices may have already selected this and watched it. Boom! Easy as that, because you guessed it. It has a G rating. Even though it is listed in the HORROR section!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE:

go to the MOTION PICTURE ASSOCIATION site and let them know what you think of this.

You can also EMAIL THEM as well EMAIL THEM HERE TOO. Update, they See information at bottom of post!

I would also LOVE IT if you would CALL NETFLIX CUSTOMER SERVICE (1-888-811-9842) and tell them like I did that despite the GENERAL RATING of this movie by the MPA (see info below) that they have a moral and even possibly a legal responsibility to either re-rate this movie themselves or to choose NOT TO CARRY IT in their movie selections to protect their customers from accidental viewing by their children!

I myself am and artist, I completely understand free speech, freedom to create HOWEVER this is plain absolute NEGLIGENCE on THEIR PART to have NOT RATED this movie appropriately. They (at least someone should!!!) have a responsibility to the public to appropriately rate films for the protection of young children and to see them put a rating saying that this is appropriate viewing for ALL AGES, You have GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. I am going to make it a personal VENDETTA to make sure that I post everywhere I possibly can to ask people to LET THE APPROPRIATE PARTIES KNOW JUST WHAT THEY THINK of the rating system. Sick, disgusting, repulsive, repugnant, garbage like that, in my opinion, should not even be produced let alone viewed.

UPDATE. I checked out Jen's link and sure enough that link associated with the mpaa says it is rated R HOWEVER, When I spoke to Netflix they in fact said that it was rated G and that I should contact the mpaa........ also, if you go into itunes to actually purchase it, not just google it, you get that screen above, rated G. So I wanna know now if it was rated incorrectly and they have since changed it but itunes and Netflix are unaware of it.

Another update. I have in fact heard back from mpa-Canada and they advised that they did give this movie and 18-A rating but it seems that because this movie was produced by an independant film company IFC films and Six Entertainment " Neither IFC Films or Six Entertainment is a member of MPA-Canada, nor do they participate in the Canadian Home Video Rating System. "

So it seems that there is some kind of loop hole where some film companies don't have to participate in the ratings systems and it is thier responsibility to appropriately rate them themselves! The representative who emailed me is going to make sure I know where I need to focus my attention to perhaps change policy here.

I want to share this comment the representative sent to me:
"If we can provide any further assistance to you to ensure your complaint reaches the appropriate people please let us know. We share your concerns and firmly believe that classifications need to be a tool that parents can rely on to ensure that their children are seeing age appropriate content."

The winter cottage

Yes, I am still here. An absentee blogger, a fly by night painter, an occasional house cleaner. The last being the lowest of my priorities. I would far rather do things that I love, with those that I love. Life is so rare and wonderful and precious. A miraculous gift. I often marvel at the chain of events that rolls along inside of us each day, while we toddle along on our merry or sometimes not so merry ways. Each cell, a little part of an unbelievable miracle that goes on and on.

Some things we should keep in mind while enjoying the holiday season.

Forgive those who have hurt you, they need your love more than you probably realize.

Close your computers, turn off your phones, curl up on the couch with your loved ones and share stories of your adventures and dream together of adventures yet come. Be still and listen, to those blessed souls you were so lucky to have been graced with. Savor every moment so you have more memories to share later.

While in a holiday line up at a store this week, talk to those near you and send them a dazzling smile, no matter how late or how long you have been standing there. If you don't know what to say, just smile as big as you can. At the very least you will get to laugh at their possibly panicked reaction as to why you would be smiling at them! If you are done, go to a personal care home and spend some time with a lonely senior or two or go hand out a meal to a homeless person. Give them a dazzling smile too.

Channeling the Christmas spirit...

Funny, after having had such a long pause due to trying times, I have come back with this need to channel kindness and the Christmas spirit. Believe me, it has not been easy and I really have to try to take my own advice to my kids. The world is not always fair, bad things happen to good people and sometimes you just have to turn the other cheek. I have to say that we have been fortunate and have much to be thankful for. Good things have come our way and that is what matters most. It is not my place to punish people, sadly many of them do bad to others simply because they feel bad about themselves, and so should be pitied.

I can't believe that Christmas really is just around the corner, but finally we have snow. I love it, most I am sure don't. So pretty and white.

Finally! Whew, what a week. I started an encaustic class (painting with hot wax) on monday with the lovely Judy Wise, and wise she is. Sad thing is that I had everything I needed and only tonight did I actually get to make my medium. (you have to mix tree resin with beeswax which you later mix oil paint in to make it colored) I am soooooooo behind. Anyways, without further ado here is my I cleaned out my closet candy!

Candy # 1 is a kit I got from CTMH last year that is never been touched, brand new in the package called the Triple Play kit. It is a cardmaking kit and includes a stamp set and some distress ink pads. There are also a bunch of sheets of diecuts and card bases etc. I also threw in a brand new ink pad!

AHHH The Linky is dead!

A huge apology!!!! For some reason I was having trouble with the linky showing a closing date of next Friday. When I went into the dashboard it said ending in 4 days but yet it kept saying in the blog it would close the following Friday. I decided to try to re copy and paste the same code in and all the links disappeared!! I am just so upset about this. It has never deleted all my links before and they are even gone from the dashboard. What I am going to do is put in a new linky with and end date for the following Friday and draw for a 20$ gift certificate. I am just popping by to say hello! I have missed you all! Summer time brings so much fun and it also by default brings so much more work too. While I love having the kids home and the times we share, trying to keep up to the mess is proving difficult. Does anyone else find that the older their kids get the bigger the messes? Military school..... kidding!

I have also been very busy with other aspects of my creative endeavors. I am currently taking some ecourses which I am enjoying thoroughly and which are keeping me very busy. I hope soon you will see the results of all my secret work, these things I have found take much time to tend and bring to bloom. I am a patient gardener however, all in good time. I will share however that I have been very busy working on some fabulous fall releases too and very soon we will be back on to our regular schedule over at the Fairy Fun Friday's challenge blog as well. I just wanted to share a bit of inspiration with you before I go.

I was painting one day and taking pictures of my canvas. I looked at my hand and saw this big M there and got an idea.

Whatever it is that you want to happen, some secret dream you hold close to your heart, a holiday or trip you have been wanting to take, a new job, whatever it is... make it happen.

Nothing ever happens if you stay in one place and sometimes you just have to get out of your own way.

Yes, it is smokin hot here. Today, if I am not mistaken it was 38 degrees and who knows what with the humidex. Couple days ago it was 97 percent humidity! YIKES! Just raising some awareness...

When we have no ocean left, there is no us left.

Please... limit your use of plastic goods, notice I said goods. Including cheap plastic chairs, plastic packaging, etc. Use biodegradable products and product packaging wherever you can. But good quality furniture that won't break and get trashed in no time and cheap plastic toys that they sell with kids meals get played with for 3 mins and then trashed. We really need to think long and hard why we are buying something before we buy it and if you do use plastic products make sure you recycle. By the way, food packaged in plastic is not only questionable because you have no idea what SEEPS into the food stored in it but you have no idea what goes into the plastics produced. Hundreds of chemicals ( I know because I went to a packaging plant) go into these plastic sheets. The chemical compounds vary depending on what is going into it because it has properties to say let the swiss cheese breathe while stopping air from getting in. The problem with this is, they can't recycle this plastic. They can recycle the clean remnants from the rolls they produce (around 10,000 pounds per day or so) into non food related plastics, but the dirty scraps from your microwaveable do do dog is just trash. End of story.

We need to do what we can to be as whole as we can. Ditch the trashy micro dog and make a pot of stew, from fresh veggies you brought cloth bags to the store to put them into.

Arg! Hope I don't sound scolding, just sincere.

Springy fun....

It is my son's BFF's birthday today and I had to whip something up for a card. I happened upon amazon selling these springy things I think they were called wobbles. Anyways, I started clicking link after link looking at all the wobbly cards and came across this lady's you tube video of a card with her kids heads wobbling on them and I was laughing so hard! Just loved it so I thought that is what I am gonna do! Of course my son is always so very obliging in the crazy face department, I had one on my computer already!

SO, I printed of Lewis' body (erased the head in photoshop) and colored it up. I put the pic of my son in photoshop and adjusted the saturation and added a drybrush filter to make it look a bit sketchy and printed it off, of course nice and big!

I used (I think??) 24 gauge wire, wrapped around my glue pen oh say... around 3 times and cut out two circles with a punch. I used the circles to glue the spring onto the back of his head and the face of the card with zots big super heavy duty glue dots. Some embellies, buttons, faux stitching, some cool stickers and ta dahhhhhh! Bobbly head card!

Lori will love it! HAHAHAH!

I'm still here....

Wow, what a crazy couple of months. I'm sorry for not being around much, no new image in a while but it has been for a reason. Without getting into it too much (top secret ha ha) I have been on a roll in a whole new direction. My artistic roots are calling to me and not that I don't love the digital stamping, I just need more. I have always been that way. Off on a tangent somewhere...but I wouldn't change a thing. Each one of my tangents has brought me to a new and strangely cohesive level. I incorporate everything I learn into everything I do.

I am going to give you a sneek peek into what I have been up to. I have been creating finished artwork with..... my digital images. Yes, you heard right. I just finished a piece I created for a little girls room.

I used the image LIL' GINA GIRAFFE for this painting.

No, this is not the full painting. I hope to be able to show it to you soon, in full. I am going to be submitting a few of them for publication into a magazine so I don't want to reveal too much. What I will say is that I intend to do some tutorials (video yeah!) on how to do this yourself. This finished painting measures 16'x20" so I will be showing you how to transfer them onto the canvas or whatever substrate you are going to work on. I just figured maybe a few of you would like to dabble in a bit more than cards.

Also, I am as I write this, well when I am done I will go back to it... creating some new images for you. If anyone has any requests please feel free to leave me a comment and let me know what you would like to see for images.

Another hotbed for me...

I am just getting my stuff together to photograph my candy which I will post today. I just want to share another bit of info with you and ask you to go sign this petition. We have the ability to totally reduce if not completely wipe out our dependence on fossil fuels but all of those technologies have been buried because big oil companies don't want to loose their way of life. We need to speak up and speak out against these companies that are destroying our planet.

And this one is the one I am asking you to sign a petition against. Shell wants to invade the Sacred Headwaters from which the last of the wild salmon rivers flow. They have already built 3 wells, they plan to build 4000 more. Please go and have a look HERE and if you feel that we need to stop this kind of activity then please sign the petition.

Did you know about the bees? I have seen a program lately talking about the decline in the bee populations around the world. This is serious. No bees, no trees. No food.

There is new evidence to suggest that our cell phones are interfering with their communications or "worker piping" and this is killing the hives.

Well, it is all over. The unveiling was a success and the turnout was great. I am still trying to get back to normal. I have so many hairdo's to catch up on, my house to clean up, blogs to do, oh the list goes on. I haven't had time to rest at all yet. I have to say though, that I am inspired and have some new ideas for images. I will try to get you some freshly brewed stamps asap.

In the meantime, I have created a bit of a slide show just to give you a glimpse of the process and some pics of the finished artwork I have been so busy creating. Thanks for being patient with me.

I would also like to send out a big thank you to La Maison des artistes, especially Liza Maheu and Renee Saurette and Heritage Canada for this wonderful opportunity and to the Library Allard for giving my artwork such a loving home! I had a blast.

This is a grouping of 25 canvases each measuring 16x16". I custom built frames so that some could be higher than the others. Of the 25 canvases, I painted 17. The 8 that have text on them were painted by my collaborator, Denise Prefontaine, a wonderful artist and amazing mentor. Thanks Denise!

I know I have been quiet.....

Yes I have, but it has been with good reason. You see many of you know and for those who do not, I have been busy working on my very first public art installation. As I sit here the final coats of varnish are drying. While I can't show you the canvases yet....I made an invitation to send out to family and friends and I am posting it here for those I may have missed who might like to attend and also for fun really. I just love smilebox, by hallmark. You can make slideshows that blow you away.

Once the big unveiling has taken place I will post pictures of the finished piece. There are 25 16"x16" canvases in total, which I painted 17 of (I have a partner that I collaborated with) and have taken me around 3 weeks sometimes up to 12-14 hours a day to paint, stretch, build frames for and basically finish. I am very proud of the results and can't wait to show you when I can. SHHHHHH...big secret. he he.

First off, I would like to thank everyone who entered the DT call. It is always such a difficult decision to pick just a few of you. As a long time artist, I know that feeling of putting yourself out there and possibly not being chosen. I can't tell you how many professional art competitions I have entered and never even placed in the top 100! Sometimes it has nothing to do with talent. One time I found out I didn't place because you could see some of the wall in my photograph of my painting! I learned to either have it professionally photographed or figure out how to do it professionally myself. I am certainly not saying that if your photos are not taken professionally... just that there are many different things I looked at to help me make my decision.

There are many factors that come into play when choosing. Not only do I take your skills into account, I also consider your over all blog. Is it clean and easy to navigate, and is it easy to find what you are looking for? Is there lots of traffic at your blog? Of course, talent is a component but it is not the only one. If I didn't pick you, it may not have been the quality of your card at all that was the determining factor. Perhaps, all you need to do is enter some challenges and get your work out there so that people find you and come back regularly to see what you are up to! Perusing the blogs I also realized that some of the girls who entered cards ALSO make scrapbook pages so I took that into account as well, knowing that they are able to do both. And of course, I asked the other princesses to give me a hand picking and I sure appreciated their help!

To those of you who were not selected...thank you from the bottom of my heart for entering. I sure appreciate it and loved visiting all of you. I really hope you enjoyed working with my image and would love to see you around again, perhaps over at Fairy Fun Fridays!

No, I did not draw that cute little Tilda. he he. What I created this time around for the DCD gals are backgrounds for them to use with their Tildas. (They are a bunch of Tilda addicts over there ha ha!). The background I used here is actually from the freebie I sent out to my subscribers for Christmas. I just took ole St. Nick out. It is called Woodland background and is available now in the store for $3.00.

My papers are K&Company, colored with copics and prismas and I added some liquid applique to her fluffy parts on her snowsuit.

I embossed the sentiment on and a bit of glitter for good measure, few foamy snowflakes!

We're having a Design Team call...

That's right! We are a having a DT call, but our lovely fairy princesses are not leaving us. We are just adding to the family!

What we are looking for is 5 new FAIRY PRINCESSES to invite to our little meadow.

What are we looking for?

Well, I have recently started including both PNG and JPG formats of my images in purchases. One of the main reasons why is for digital scrapbookers to use! While I am not excluding those of you who are card makers from entering, I would like to see some traditional as well as digital scrapbookers added to the team. You will of course need to have your own personal blog that you post to regularly.

What is expected from you?

1. You will be required to create ONE project every other friday for the Fairy Fun Fridays challenge blog following the challenge requirements for each specific challenge and post it to your own personal blog.

2. You would be required to participate in any occasional special events or blog hops.

3. On the fridays between the challenge posts, one or more of the fairy princesses create a second project for that specific challenge to post on that friday, just as a reminder of what the challenge is and to spotlight that/those princesses on the challenge blog. Each member is required to take a turn making a midway post and once each princess has taken her turn, we start a new cycle.

THAT'S IT!

We are a pretty easy going gang and close like a family! We have a private blog that we post to and visit each other which you will be invited to.

HOW TO ENTER:

I am posting a freebie which I would like you to use to create a project with. Anything you like! If you are a digital scrapbooker and would like the colored PNG versions as well just email me and I will send them to you. Happy friday evening everyone! I am so glad the weekend is here. I feel like an absentee blogger these days. I had some big plans for the shop this year but those are on hold now, for a bit anyways. I had some exciting news and it is something that is going to take up some of my free time until March. I was one of two artists chosen to do a public art installation, which is a big deal for me. I am so honored and so very excited. This means I have already been working out some samples and doing some painting and that unfortunately leaves less time for my digital world. I am using some of my image files in a somewhat radical way in my work however and I will post about it when my samples are finished. I do however have a new release for you today and I actually added a couple other new images a week ago but just added them quickly to the side bar rather than post about them. I will post them all for you here and now!

Have you heard of......

Cold Porcelain Clay???

Well it is just the coolest thing since sliced pie! AH, not really, I really love pie! ROFL!

I have a cool new tutorial for you on how to make your own tags with this really cool medium. You make this dough your self with cornstarch, pvc glue and some baby oil and the things you can make with it are limited only by your imagination.

Here are some of the tags I made with this amazing (and cheap) stuff!

I know! Now you are thinking..OMG! Hurry up and tell me about this!

The best thing about it is that it is air dry and you can tint the paste before you use it or paint it after it is dry as well. I just love this stuff! You can tint it with acrylic paint while it is soft. It does take a day or two to dry depending on how thick you make it so you do have to be patient.

Here are the steps. I will post the recipe for the paste at the bottom of the post.

Roll the dough out about 1/4" thick.

I used a pizza cutter to cut out tag shapes. Wash it well immediately after as this dough is made with PVC glue and will be impossible to get off once dry.

I used a small set of SU letter stamps to stamp the word on but you could use any sentiment stamp or even a shape.

Once you stamp your letters in use a small round object to punch holes in the ends IF you want to string the tag on. You could change the shape of your tags and put one hole. Whatever you want. I used a crochet hook! Now let them dry till they are hard as a rock!

I used some alcohol ink to "dye" the tag but you could use acrylic paint for a solid color OR mix the acrylic paint with some matte medium to give it a translucent or "stained" look.

Here is the stained tag. I used butterscotch to color it.

I then used my smooch spray in the logcabin color to add a dark stain to it. I thought it would look more sparkly but it just wasn't enough for me. It did however stain the letters nice and dark. Again, you could use acrylic paint to do this and even better make it like a dark stain by adding some matte medium. Let this dry completely.

Here is how it looked after the dark smooch spray was added. See how the cracks in the tag really show up. If you don't like the cracks just add a touch of water to your dough before you work with it to make it smoother. Up to you really! Want more cracks? Work with dryer dough!

And the grand finale is to use your little ole finger to rub a bit of iridescent gold acrylic paint on the finished tag to bring out the lettering and the cracked finish.

And here are the finished sweet tags:

I used acrylic paint completely on these two so you could see some variation. I also used silver paint instead of gold AND on the top tag I mixed the silver with the magenta paint for an over coat of shiny pink! I took it a step further and added a blue violet color over the shiny pink layer. That is why you can see that shiny pink peeking through. Kinda has a grunge look to it I think. Lotsa fun, that's all I can say.

I love dirty and stained fingers! Just ask anyone who knows me!

And here is the recipe

Ingredients:
1 cup pva glue (white glue like Elmer's Glue All)
1 cup cornstarch
1 tablespoon mineral oil (babyoil)
1 tablespoon lemon juice, witchhazel, or clove oil, tea tree oil (these are natural preservative that help prevent mold, optional but recommended)

Directions:
1. Combine ingredients in pot. Don't use your good cookware for this because it can be hard to clean off.
2. Cook on low heat stirring constantly for 10 minutes or until dough forms and begins to come away from the sides.
3. Remove from heat and allow to cool until you can handle it.
4. Knead to a smooth clay consistency.
5. Store wrapped in plastic and refrigerated.
6. Color is translucent cream but can be tinted with acrylic or oil paint. White paint gives a true porcelain look. If you are using this clay with children make sure the paints are also non-toxic, some paint pigments contain toxic chemicals so check the label.

That's it! Now go have some fun!

How I did my draw:

There were a few of you who forgot to add the F and I just knew you were followers, ( I have seen ya around), so I added a "paper" F for them. I went through the links one by one and counted each one in succession. So link 1 had an F so that one counted as 1+2, then link 2 had an F too so that was 3+4. If a link had no F they got one number, in succession. I double counted to make sure! I asked mr. Random for some #'s, 3 of course and then went back to count up every single one. IF you added a link twice, you got the second one deleted. I then went to the winning links to make sure they did all the requirements for the entry and thankfully they all did! Each one got a notification of their win in a comment under their post of my candy. The candy was dished out as each number was drawn in order and in the order the candy was posted.

I haven't made a thing in a while and I just decided last night before bed to quickly color up one of my freebie tags. Here is the result.

I used my copics to color.

Reindeer was E33 E35 E39

background 00 B0000 and B00

I used red embossing powder on his nose and liquid applique on the tail.

That is it! Easy peasy. A quick and cute gift tag that will make my lame gifts seem so much better! ROFL!
